The Sound Table

Post from Corey:

The Sound Table is one of Old Fourth Ward’s best kept secrets.

I’ve been here on a number of occasions and is easily one of my favorites. As much as I would hate for the secret to get out, I’ll fill you in on it if you keep it between you and me. Cool?

Three aspects of The Sound Table draw me back again and again: ambience, food and service. It has the best of both worlds: a bustling downstairs bar area where you can mingle and have a number of delicious drinks, and an upstairs that is more intimate and conducive to a nice evening over great food. In my experience, the bartenders have been more than willing to keep your drinks full and even engage you to find the perfect cocktail for your liking. Upstairs, the waiters are very attentive and will make sure they tend to you when necessary but not enough to annoy you. To me, that’s the perfect balance of service.

The favorites of mine include the lamb meatballs for an appetizer (always cooked to perfection)

the chicken

the burger

and of course a drink or two.

Whatever your drink of choice is, chances are they have it. Johnnie Walker for me. Step away from the same old restaurant that you and your significant other frequent every Friday and stop by The Sound Table. Remember not to let the secret out though.

The Lowdown:

  • Hip bar scene with tasty bites.
  • Valet parking is available at the restaurant’s parking lot adjacent to the building; curbside parking is also nearby.
  • The menu changes seasonally, which is great for the environment but not so good if you fall in love with a dish (like lamb meatballs).
  • At night, the downstairs area turns into a mini club with different DJs daily. There may be a cover depending on what time you enter the restaurant. Check the website before going.
